Our Words Fly Out on Butterfly Wings

They ride the thermals.

Our words fly out on butterfly wings to climb the thermals.

The mystery of the internet is anybody can be reading anything at any time.

Including your post. Including this post.

It takes one reader to make your day.

The reader might be a newcomer who enjoys your words.

The reader might be an old friend who resonates with your energy.

The reader might be a well-known writer who tells you how your words impacted them.

The reader might be a publisher.

The reader might be a movie producer.

The reader might be a musician.

The readers appear like thermal drafts, carrying your words up and down.

When birds with large wings catch the thermals, they ride and soar and spiral.

They seldom flap their wings, expending energy they can conserve.

They climb to heights. They can see far, see small movements.

They fly to hunt for food, to play, to court.

Like words set out on the internet, chance and intention intersect.

Wit and camaraderie combine in daily conversations as long as they last.

The gains of each contributor build on the last, creating room for the next.

We may remember these times fondly. Lifting words, yours and mine, to new places.

Catching talons and tumbling in games of courtship or friendship or mystery.

Our words set out on butterfly wings.

Love this metaphor! So whimsical and fun. Once your words leave home, no telling what will happen … unlike talking face to face where you have tighter control of the conversation.
