Protest Song

Where are all the protest songs? Long time passing?

Caged children don’t wade in the water.

What blows in the wind?

We count and it’s one, two, three what are we waiting for?

We’re in a silent war. Does outrage wear out in memes?

Not power to the people but paralysis by Facebook feed.

If orange is the new black, why isn’t he in jail?

Singing is community, breathing together, listening for harmony;

Creating the whole with individual voices.

Powerless, I hear we feel powerless.

We need our song; Give us bread and give us roses.

You are poets here, we need your voices. Add guitar and melody and give us choices.

Give us Protest Songs.
